How is the CMM organized?
CMM was formed by a core group in January 2014. Since May 2014, the organization has been led by a Board of Directors comprised of individuals with combined backgrounds in business, collecting, museums, law, architecture, design, communications and fundraising. We have four standing subcommittees, responsible for Finance, Development, Collections and Exhibits, and Communications.
Is the CMM a non-profit?
The Cycling Museum of Minnesota became a federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization on January 16, 2015.
When will the CMM be open to the public?
The CMM hopes to open to the public some time in the future, until which time we will open by invitation or for scheduled events.
Where is CMM located? How/why did the CMM choose its current location?
CMM is located at Quality Bike Products corporate offices, 6400 West 105th St., Bloomington, MN. QBP offered a generous welcome to us with an excellent and an accessible space and size for our requirements, in a location central to our volunteers and future bike-in visitors. The CMM exhibit space at QBP will be open for select events and scheduled tours.
Do you foresee moving to another venue going forward?
Yes, if/when the CMM’s revenues and raised funds would support relocation.
I have some cool cycling-related items. How can I donate artifacts to the CMM?
Contact us at info@cmm.bike with a description of the item(s) you wish to donate. A member of the Collections and Exhibits Committee will contact you.
How can I support the CMM financially?
Donations may be sent to CMM, PO Box 580201, Minneapolis, MN 55458. You can also make a donation on our website.
In the future, CMM will offer sponsorship opportunities. To inquire about how you can help support CMM, please contact us at info@cmm.bike.
How can I volunteer with CMM?
CMM will be seeking assistance going forward in collections, exhibits, administration, programs, and other areas. If you are interested, please send us an e-mail of interest, info@cmm.bike.
